Testimonials

The way that everything was co-ordinated for us by Peter & Fiona meant that our trip was as stress free as you could ever have it. Our favourite course was Kingsbarns without a doubt. Absolutely beautiful course, visually stunning, requires a good game of golf to score well and every hole was different and fun. You have to push people to play this course. It is a gem. Alan our driver was incredible. He did everything that we asked of him. He kept us on time and on schedule. He entertained the non-golfers so well that a couple of the girls were thinking of bringing Alan home with them and leaving their husbands behind. The vehicle was top notch. Roomy, comfortable, clean with lots of room for golf clubs, wine bottles, quaichs and the odd beer. The Information Pack was extremely helpful and it was a great tool to help organize the day's events. Morton Golf Service was awesome. I can't think of another thing that Peter & Fiona could have done for us. Everyone has agreed that this was the best trip that they have ever been on and all of us have recommended your services to anyone who is contemplating going golfing in Scotland.

Golfing in the North of Scotland - Royal Dornoch Golf Tour

Enquire NowOld Course, Moray, Lossiemouth, Links 6572 yeards SSS 73, Par 71, Recognised by many as one of the great northern links, this is a tough eighteen holes to the west of the town. Screaming fighters regularly pass overhead from the local base, as if the golfer didn't have enough to cope with in the concentration needed to cope with the course! The outward nine is pretty stiff, generally into the wind and a typical seaside rough will severely punish the wayward. The finishing stretch allows no complacency to any in site of a score, while the eighteenth is considered one of the great closing holes in Scotland.

Golfing in the North of Scotland - Royal Dornoch Golf Tour

Day 1

Arrive in Inverness Airport where you will be met by a company representative and escorted to your vehicle. Transfer to Dornoch

Day 2

Play Royal Dornoch The first three golf links in Scotland of which there is written record are: 1552, St Andrews; 1593, Leith; 1616, Dornoch. It was in 1877 that the Dornoch Golf Club was founded as the successor of the Sutherland Golfing Society whose members played at Dornoch and Golspie. The course was then only 9 holes long. The annual subscription to the club was 2/6 and the annual income was £3 18s 6d. But changes were in store. The great Tom Morris came up from St Andrews and laid out 9 proper golf holes. Three years later another 9 holes were added and the fame of the Dornoch course started to spread, even across the Atlantic to America .

Day 3

Play Tain Tain Golf Club in Ross-shire, a traditional Scottish Highland links course designed by Old Tom Morris, situated 9 miles south of Dornoch and 31 miles north of Inverness. Our Championship length links enjoys spectacular views over mountains and sea and benefits from a sheltered climate, which allows favourable golfing conditions for most of the year. With our 3rd hole rated as one of the best 18 links holes in Scotland and our 17th acknowledged as one of the top 18 holes designed by Old Tom Morris, we believe that Tain offers one of the finest settings and challenges for a round of golf.

Day 4

Play Castle Stuart - Scotland the home of golf. As Turnberry is to Ayrshire and Gleneagles is to Perthshire, Castle Stuart has been conceived to be for the Highlands – a beacon reaching out to golfers throughout the world. The centrepiece for this destination golf resort will be Castle Stuart Golf Links, a championship links course overlooking the Moray Firth and well-known landmarks that are synonymous with Inverness and the Black Isle - Kessock bridge and Chanonry Lighthouse perhaps the most notable. The resort will include a small luxury Hotel & Spa, 'resort-ownership' Lodges & Apartments, plus a second Seaside Course. Castle Stuart's goal is to add to the rich fabric of golf in the Scottish Highlands - a fabric made rich by Royal Dornoch, Nairn, Brora and many other fine golf clubs.

Day 5

Play Nairn What delights the visitor and member alike is the Scottish-ness of the links. Other than in a strong westerly, it leads you in gently before demanding accurate driving and precision second shots. Gorse is a hazard. The par 4 holes tease and confound and all four short holes are cunningly angled, with the 4th a little gem and the 14th simply spectacular. As three of the par 5 holes are over 530 yards long, it is a test for all. Yet, even more challenging than the humps and hollows that lurk in the fairways, is the trickery of the greens. Eighty years ago, having played the Championship Course, James Braid commented on their quality - "The texture of the turf and character of the greens is unrivalled".

Day 6

Play Nairn Dunbar Situated on the shores of the Moray Firth , the Nairn Dunbar golf course, founded in 1899, is a highly rated Scottish links championship course representing a formidable challenge with its gorse and whin lined fairways.

The club enjoys a growing reputation for high quality competition golf. Renowned for its excellent condition and friendly reception to visitors, it was the chosen venue in 1999 for the Northern Open Professional Championship, the Scottish Ladies Amateur Stroke Play and the Scottish Boys Stroke Play. In 2001 the club hosted the Scottish Amateur Stroke Play Championship (qualifying rounds) and in 2002 the Seniors Home Internationals and the Scottish Open Amateur Mixed Tournaments.

The club are to be joint hosts with the Nairn Golf Club to stage the Seniors Open Amateur Championship in 2007.

An outstanding new clubhouse was officially opened in May 1998 by Sir Michael Bonallack OBE. Facilities include comfortable lounge bars, dining room, extensive locker room facilities with visitors room and showers.

Day 7

Play Old Moray Links Where else could you follow in the footsteps of Old Tom Morris and Henry Cotton in the same day?

The old course is considered to be one of the finest links courses in Scotland. A classic links designed by Old Tom Morris with deep revetted bunkers, undulating gorse lined fairways and smooth fast greens. It is a superb test of golf with seven par fours over 400 yards.

Henry Cotton's preference for precision golf can be seen with the shorter but somewhat tighter new course with greens smaller than the Old but every bit as good, and equally challenging and rewarding.

Enquire NowMoray Golf Club is truly one of Scotland 's gems, a fitting tribute to the artistry of Old Tom Morris and Henry Cotton and a must for golfers visiting the area.
