The Carrick on Loch Lomond

The CarrickWhilst the quality of the golf holes, in terms of being a very fair test of golf for players of all standards, are fantastic and require precise shotmaking and strategy the really noticeable feature of the course is the panoramic view from every hole. The respective vistas of the hills, glens and loch make it arguably the most scenic course in Scotland.

It is unique in being the only course which is bisected by the Highland fault line so has nine holes in the lowlands and highlands.

As a natural extension to the 5 star Cameron House Resort the Carrick golf and spa will complete the experience for the visitor with access to the course by guest/s, which could be a mixture of golf and spa groups, via a water taxi.

We have a very modern greens seed mix of indigenous fescue grass and three strains of bent grass on top of a USGA construction, to ensure the best putting surfaces in Scotland all year round.

The unique blend of a traditional Scottish heathland feel with 118 revetted bunkers and the ability to run the ball in to the generous but undulating greens, the majority of which will be very mature with three years growth upon opening, combined with the very best of 5 star customer service will make this the ideal venue for leisure guests, overseas and domestic visitors and corporate clients alike.

This is Doug Carrick`s first creation in the land of his grandparents birth and follows his latest in Europe at Fontana in Austria which hosted the national Open in 2006. Another of Doug`s designs which will be accorded that status, for the second time, is Angus Glen which will host the Canadian Open in 2007. Doug has over 50 courses to his name in his native Canada of which 7 are listed in the countries` top 20 and his layouts have won best new course in Canada five times in the last eight years.

The CarrickThe Carrick is the result of a £9M investment by De Vere which makes it the most expensive course ever constructed in Scotland which reflects the quality of the greens, tees and drainage for which we must thank the construction company, M.J. Abbott. Their team, headed up by the Chairman of the British Land Drainage Council Nigel Wyatt, has been meticulous in ensuring the course will cope adequately with wet periods on the "bonnie banks."
